Dubbed by Peter P. Fuchs of the Sugar Pops Symphonic Orchestra as "a musical talent to be reckoned with," Mia Vassilev is a renowned musician, artist, and pianist. She made her mark in the music world through her artistic and virtuosic piano playing, genre-breaking styles, and charismatic stage presence.
Over the years, Mia has gained worldwide attention — thanks to her sold-out shows, wherein she is joined by an exciting and captivating ensemble. Unlike other piano artists who rely on one style or usually do cover of popular songs, Mia takes her audience on a musical journey through the 1940s and 1960s, playing a wide range of styles from Boogie-Woogie to Latin to Rock and Roll.
To say that Mia is a multi-faceted artist is an understatement. Hailing from a small town in Kansas, Mia now resides in Miami. She frequently performs as a soloist with several orchestras, including Boca Raton orchestras, the Hallandale Symphonic Pops, the Alhambra, the Sugar Pops, and the Klezmer Company Orchestra. On her official website, Mia takes pride in the degrees, awards, and assistantships she holds to the doctoral level from Kansas State University, the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music, and the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. She is also a New World Symphony piano fellow.
In her 2023-2024 tour, Mia will offer her fans what she does best. Her enigmatic stage presence and skillful piano playing will be complemented by a drummer, a string player, and a dance duo. Her show "In The Spirit of Liberace" delves into a wide range of musical styles, including classical, Latin, Polka, and rock 'n roll. You can catch her this March 26 at the McAllen Performing Arts Center.
