Mocedades Tickets
McAllen Performing Arts Center | Mcallen, Texas
“Quien te cantará con esa guitarra. Quien la hará sonar cuando no esté yo.” Who will sing to you when I’m gone is the loose translation of the line above. If you didn’t need the translation, it’s probably because you’re a fan of the Spanish group Mocedades. Perhaps the most popular group to come out of Spain in the last 60 years is visiting many US cities as part of their Peregrina Tour 2024. One of those cities is McAllen, Texas. They’ll be on stage at the McAllen Performing Arts Center on Saturday, October 5th.
The group has gone through multiple reconfigurations and splits. This configuration, which will head to McAllen, is led by founding member Izaskun Uranga. Who will sing to us when she’s gone? If you’re a fan, you’ll want to head to the McAllen Performing Arts Center on October 5th; watching one of the founding members of this iconic group live is a real treat. There’s no guarantee they’ll come around again.
Speaking of members from iconic music, groups, Rafael Basurto will be the opening act in McAllen on October 5th. He’s the last living member of “Los Panchos,” a trio that was born in the 40s! Basurto was part of a second or even third generation of the group, joining them in 1976 with some founding members still on board at the time. Romantic and nostalgic music is what Basurto brings to the stage.
Romance and nostalgia are certainly the main themes of the entire night. If you want to be at the McAllen Performing Arts Center when Mocedades takes the stage, click the get tickets button today!
Mocedades was formed in Spain in the late 1960s, with the Uranga sisters and the family, in general, taking up a majority of the six slots of the main group. Izaskun Uranga, however, is the only original member of the group who has endured it all. There’s no point in going through their troubled history, though! The line-up that’s going to be in McAllen on October 5th includes two Uranga sisters and very talented Spanish male singers who joined the group in more recent years, like Toni Menguiano and Jose Miguel Gonzalez. The Uranga sisters have made it a point to ensure that Mocedades remains the six-person group that it was originally conceived to be. They’ll be singing all of the classics! Back in the early 70s, they released “Eres Tu.” That’s arguably the song that catapulted them to fame, and it’s still a main fixture in their current setlists.
The romance may make way for the popular heartbreak songs that the band sings as well. “Tomame o Dejame” a song about a spouse with a lover, came to really scandalize Spain during the mid-70s. Spain was still a very conservative country fresh off the death of dictator Francisco Franco, and some of these songs, while they seem rather tame today, were complete cultural shifters in their day. Some nostalgia, love, and history, Mocedades brings it all to the table. These songs that they still play are a major part of many people’s life soundtracks. The staying power of the Uranga sisters has allowed new generations to enjoy their music as well! That’s why you can expect a very diverse crowd at the McAllen Performing Arts Center on October 5th!
