Yuridia Ruiz Castro, better known by her stage name India Yuridia, is a 39-year-old comedian from Monterrey, Mexico. At a young age, she already knew that she wanted to be a performer. Castro enrolled in the National Association of Actors (ANDA). Throughout her career, she invented different characters until she eventually created India Yuridia.
Castro’s claim to fame is a hilarious way of giving lectures. Her Youtube channel, Yuridia the Mexican Native Stand-Up Comedian, has garnered more than two million followers and amassed more than 600 million views. To say that India Yuridia is a well-known comedian is an understatement. She toured all over Mexico and other Latin American countries with her previous outings titled Hagan lo que quieran (Do What You Want) in 2018 and Esto es lo que hay (This is What It Is) in 2019. This year, she’s set to conquer North America with her La India Yuridia Tour.
Castro’s stand-up style began with impersonations of a popular Mexican character La India Maria. Her topics usually consist of feminism, issues involving women’s liberation, childbirth, housework, marriage, and many more. She also likes to make fun of machismo attitudes and how many m women often tolerate it. Moreover, her topics will always conclude with lifting women up and promoting self-respect.
