Jennifer Pena is one of the biggest stars to come out of the Tejano genre. The genre itself, of course, is characterized by a fusion of Mexican influences across various genres within Mexican popular music. Pena is often considered to be the “princess” of Tejano music due to her widespread influence within the genre. And now, she’s coming out of her hiatus to perform in her very own home state, Texas. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Jennifer Pena lives for music. She got her start performing at a tribute concert for the late Selena Quintanilla-Perez. The concert was her very first large-scale performance, and it brought a lot of buzz, especially considering Selena’s own father and former manager was the one who gave her the gig. All these years later, the princess of Tejano music is still shaking up the world of Mexican music and culture with new music and new performances later this year. She’ll be starting off with a select few dates throughout Texas toward the end of this year, but she allegedly has plans to tour internationally.
