Clue - Live On Stage is coming to the McAllen Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, May 5th. Kind of an odd fit for Cinco de Mayo weekend, but then again, we might be too close to the border to celebrate this gringo date! In any case, you will have a chance to see one of the most entertaining comedies to come out of Broadway in some time.
Transport your family game night to the McAllen Performing Arts Center on May 5th. A ton of the elements that you know and love from the board game will be present on stage. This is also one of the few stage shows that are worth another look, even if you've seen them at another stop on this US tour, because we can get an alternate ending to the performance night after night. This board game has transcended all sorts of boundaries, eras, and pretty much anything that you can put it through. There's a film, and now two different stage shows that pay homage to a story that has led to hours upon hours of family fun. Clue - Live On Stage does the original material a ton of justice. You'll have the actors with the typical costumes from the characters that you're going to recognize, either from the original film or the cue cards on the board game that you spent hours playing at home. As mentioned, it's a bit of a surprise that we're getting this performance headlining on May 5th here in McAllen, but you won't want to miss this fun night.
Again, as stated, multiple versions of the game turned stage show have appeared on Broadway and tours like this one. There was a Clue-based musical that hit up NYC a few years back, that's not the show that you're getting a chance to see in McAllen. This is instead a comedy stage show that features all of the characters that you know and love from the original game. Not to provide any spoilers, but the story behind this performance is tied to the 1985 movie more than it is to what you'd see at the musical version of the famous board game.
Broadway rules definitely apply for this one. That means that you need to be looking for a spot toward the middle of the theater that's a few rows removed from the stage. At a venue like the McAllen Performing Arts Center, even some of the seats with an elevated view can be a good idea. Since it's not a massive venue, you won't feel like you're too far away from the action. The issue with the front rows is that you'll be looking up at the actors most of the time.
