Named the ‘Funniest Comic in Texas’ back in 2019, RALPH BARBOSA soon became one of the hottest rising names in comedy around the globe. Described as one of the “shyest attention hogs to ever do comedy,” his laidback style of hilarious antics had won him an audience so drawn to his casual conversation stand-up sets. Sharing his own observations, personal tales, and doing crowd work with a razor-sharp wit, there’s plenty to love about the man’s work. This year, he’s heading out for THE RED40 TOUR, and fans are expecting a night where his shy attention-hog persona shines as he shares some relationship & life advice, and a couple of “disarming” tales about his family and heritage. ABOUT RALPH BARBOSA

Born in Dallas and raised in Mesquite, Texas, Ralph was raised by his grandmother—an immigrant from Mexico. His dad owned a body shop, where he painted cars. It sure is clear where his fascination for vehicles came from, as we’ve all seen him hosting the Formula Bean YouTube channel with Luis Cisneros. Named the “Funniest Comic in Texas” in 2019, his Don't Tell Comedy pop-up show performance went viral, amassing over 4.6 million views on YouTube by 2023. 

As the word spread and he started gaining more prominence in the funny biz, Barbosa marked his late-night TV debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in January 2023. Later on, he got booked for more appearances on various programs, and took home a couple of awards and recognition, including “Top Latin Times' List of Best Stand-Up Comedians of 2023,” winning a New York International Latino Film Festival, and more.

The Latin Times described his work as “laid back and often invoking his Hispanic heritage to connect with audiences.”

In October 2023, Barbosa released his comedy special, Ralph Barbosa: Cowabunga, through Netflix, filmed at the Kessler Theater right by the barbershop where he used to work. With a knack for stirring laughs in a casual manner as he goes on about his roots, life, and thoughts about pretty much anything under the sun, he simply has this unique charm that can get you cracking as he’s simply being himself.

LIVE AT MCALLEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

Coming to McAllen, Texas, the stage is set for Ralph Barbosa at MCALLEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER as he kicks off a summer season of shows with his RED40 Tour in the city. The grand hall has hosted countless events — including stand-up comedy nights, concerts, theatrical acts, and more. With a seating capacity of about 1,800 people, it makes a great venue for shows that are intimate yet packed with energy. The hall is definitely bound to resound with hysterical laughs as Barbosa unleashes his signature comedy antics.
