It's a holiday classic that gets everyone in the right spirits. The Rio Grande Valley Ballet company does an amazing job of crafting this atmosphere. You'll get a chance to experience the traditional Nutcracker, music from the moment that you set foot inside the McAllen Performing Arts Center. That will get you in the holiday spirit, which is what most people are looking for out of a performance like this.
What makes this performance extra special is the combination of skilled dancers and some of the kids who are part of the academy. This is not to say that the kids are not talented; plenty of them will exhibit dance skills that will certainly wow the audience. What no one can deny, though, is that they bring a sense of "cuteness" that most grown-ups won't be able to replicate. It provides heart-warming moments for the family members and anyone else who is part of the audience this evening.
When you go to a show like this, that's a fully professional performance, and you're not necessarily invested in a particular performer, like you might be here; you sit in the middle of the theater, quite a few rows from the stage, for the best view.
